I recently mentioned an online program I was privileged to be part of, Mediation in Patent and Technology Cases, presented by Silicon Valley Arbitration and Mediation Center and Stanford Law School. The program was recorded and is now available online.
My co-presenters are highly skilled mediators and educators. They are:
-Janet Martinez, Director Gould Negotiation and Mediation Program, Stanford Law School
-Harrie Samaras, SVAMC Tech List
-Rod Thompson, SVAMC Tech List
The “Tech list” is the Silicon Valley Arbitration and Mediation Center’s list of peer-vetted arbitrators and mediators known for their experience and skill in crafting business-practical legal solutions in the technology sector. For more information on SVAMC please visit https://svamc.org/ For more information about Stanford’s Law School’s Gould Negotiation and Mediation Program please visit https://law.stanford.edu/martin-daniel-gould-center-for-conflict-resolution/
The program is presented in two parts: Part 1, Ready, Set, Go, concentrates on identifying and appointing the right mediator, mediation timing, and preparing yourself, your client, and the mediator for the mediation session. The presentation uses a sample tech-related case to illustrate the process.
Part 1 is available at https://youtu.be/BqPDualCYGE
Part 2, Reinventing Your Advocacy Skills for a New Use, concentrates on actual advocacy at the mediation session. It again uses the sample case to illustrate the points made.
Part 2 is available at https://youtu.be/0O4EVRVYkNA
Mediators and lawyers around the world participated in the program online, and posed some interesting questions that were answered by the presenters. I hope you have a chance to check it out!
