David was a partner at the law firm of Lindquist & Vennum, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota for 35 years and remains of counsel to the firm. He has litigated, arbitrated and mediated cases in state and federal trial and appellate courts and hearing rooms throughout the United States, including issues involving:
- Intellectual property protection and licensing
- Trade secrets
- Unfair competition
He has been appointed an arbitrator in over sixty-five commercial arbitrations and has successfully mediated dozens of cases ranging from all forms of Intellectual Property, commercial disputes and other areas of civil law, including;
Contractual obligations and Uniform Commercial Code issues relating to;
- Medical devices
- Computer systems
- Electronics manufacturing
- Heavy equipment and other industries
- Manufacturing operations and methods
As a member of the AAA Commercial Panel, David has been appointed as Panel Chair, sole arbitrator or panel member in over 65 business disputes in various parts of the country including Minnesota, California, Illinois, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Florida.
David has successfully mediated and settled cases in the areas of breach of contract, patents, trademarks, copyright, business torts, home improvement disputes, insurance issues, mechanic lien disputes, employment and general commercial law areas. He has served and continues to serve as a mediator for Hennepin County Court mediation programs, mediating cases in the areas of;

David is a past chair the firm’s Litigation Department and Intellectual Property practice group and Commercial Litigation practice group.
